10 Things To Check Out This July

This Fourth of July is going to be a little different this year. So we thought we’d give you a rundown on what’s happening in the neighborhoods we serve starting with July 4th, and continuing throughout the month!

MARYSVILLE

1 – July 4, 2020 – Join others for the 2nd annual Marysville 4th of July Celebration! This year to keep everyone healthy and safe, the city has developed a virtual celebration and live fireworks beginning at dark (approximately 10:00 PM). Click here to learn more about it.

2 – July 13, 2020 Join the fun with step-by-step instructions to paint your own deception pass at the Hidden Vine Bistro in Marysville. $40/ticket. Click here to learn more about it.

3 – July 21, 2020 – Make it & Take it: Galvanized Wall Pocket Succulent Garden. Grab your tickets, and come join us at The Creamery Co. for a fun evening! LAKE STEVENS

4 – July 7, 2020 – Join Jessica Mohr, Hand-lettering Artist & Owner of Happy Heart Design Co, to learn the basics of hand-lettering! Including the best supplies to use and the basic strokes required for creating beautiful lettering. Class will include two hours of instruction, a Rhodia Dot Pad (sketchbook), two copies of hand-lettering practice worksheets, two pens, and of course a glass of delicious wine! Tickets $52/person. 5 – July 19, 2020 – Summer wouldn’t be summer without a Salmon Bake! Walk-up or drive-up and pick up your FRESH lunch or dinner at Andy’s Fish House on 1st street in Historic Downtown Snohomish. Pre-sale is $20.00 per person or you can purchase tickets at the event for $25.00 per person. Half of ticket pre-sales will go to benefit Snohomish Boys & Girls Club. EVERETT, WA

6 – Break it and Make it – Glass Fusing. An ideal journey for the beginner and for those who have taken beginning glass fusing classes in the past and would like to refresher lesson. With step by step instructions, you will learn how to break the glass and to make a six-inch beautiful contemporary fused glass pattern. Tickets $29/person. Click here to learn more about it.

7 – Everett Comedy Night – The only premier standup comedy show in Everett. This show is an hour and a half of laughs at Emory’s on Silver Lake. Everett Comedy Night features the best local comedians as well as touring comedians you’ve seen on Comedy Central, late night talk shows, and more. 8 – Who’s ready for a challenge? Not sure when you’ll run in a live race again? We don’t either! But don’t let it stop YOU from training, maintaining your fitness, or just starting. Start with the biggest challenge of your life. Run everyday. That’s it. Are you up for the challenge? The rules are pretty straightforward: (1) Minimum 1 mile everyday Only running counts – no steps per day, walking, running in place, or any other activity.  (2) Post on your social media and TAG us #pnwladies #run2befit #365dayrunningchallenge (exact tags required). (3) Post in Closed Facebook everyday (include screenshot of date, tracked mileage, picture of you running, hashtags in the photo.) by 9pm PST.  Cost? $40 per runner (plus Eventbrite fees, $10 towards challenge pot; $25 to organizers to admin and finisher’s shirt).  How you win: Whomever can last the longest (running streak) wins the pot and follows the rules outlined. Bonus: All finishers will get a shirt! #bragging rights.  If there’s a tie, winners split the proceeds.  Click here to learn more about it.

9 – Play with clay is an ideal ceramics activity for the families and friends. With one slab of clay, you will create a beautiful piece of art. We will provide everything you need. $29/person. Click here to learn more about it.

CAMANO ISLAND, WA

10 – Just need a day at the beach? Check out Iverson Spit Waterfront Preserve on Camano Island. This delightful area offers some short hiking trails and, of course, ever present views of the Cascade Mountains and shoreline wandering. Come to picnic or wander along the beach, but definitely make this stop if you’re a birdwatcher. 125 bird species have been spotted here! The preserve will hold children and adults attention for a forest exploration and seaside stroll. Found on Port Susan Bay at the opening of Livingston Bay, this area is about 10 minutes from Stanwood. You’ll enjoy views northeast across Port Susan Bay of the Cascades: Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Pilchuck and others.  Click here to learn more about it.  Note: Be sure to check with local park/city/county sites regarding closures before heading out.
